Installation

  1. Open the Shopify App Store

    Search for Transdirect in the Shopify App Store, or use the direct link provided in your Transdirect members area under API Modules.

  2. Install the app

    Click Add app and follow the prompts to authorise the Transdirect app on your Shopify store.

  3. Connect your Transdirect account

    Enter your Transdirect API key when prompted. If you don’t have an API key yet, follow the quickstart guide to generate one — select Shopify as the module type.

  4. Enable carrier-calculated shipping

    Ensure your Shopify store has carrier-calculated shipping enabled. This is included with Shopify Advanced and Shopify Plus plans, or available as an add-on for other plans.

    In your Shopify admin, go to SettingsShipping and delivery and confirm that third-party calculated rates are active.

Accurate product dimensions are essential for correct shipping quotes. Couriers charge based on the greater of actual weight or volumetric weight, so missing or incorrect dimensions can lead to inaccurate pricing.

You can set weight and dimensions on each individual product in your Shopify catalogue:

  1. Open a product

    In your Shopify admin, go to Products and select the product you want to update.

  2. Enter shipping details

    In the Shipping section of the product page, enter the Weight, Length, Width, and Height.

  3. Save the product

    Click Save to update the product. The Transdirect app will use these dimensions when calculating quotes.

If a product has multiple variants (e.g. different sizes or colours) with different physical dimensions, you can set dimensions per variant:

  1. Open the product

    Navigate to the product in your Shopify admin.

  2. Edit variant shipping details

    Scroll to the Variants section and click on the variant you want to update. Enter the weight and dimensions for that specific variant.

  3. Repeat for each variant

    Update all variants that have different physical dimensions. Variants without custom dimensions will fall back to the product-level dimensions.

For stores with large catalogues, entering dimensions one product at a time is impractical. The Transdirect Shopify app supports bulk importing product dimensions via CSV.

  1. Export your product list

    From the Transdirect app settings in your Shopify admin, export your current product list as a CSV file. This gives you a template with all your products and their current dimensions.

  2. Fill in dimensions

    Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet application and fill in the Weight, Length, Width, and Height columns for each product.

  3. Import the CSV

    Upload the completed CSV file back through the Transdirect app settings page. The app will update all matching products with the new dimensions.

If a new version of the Transdirect Shopify app is available, you can upgrade by reinstalling the app from the Shopify App Store. Your settings and configuration will be preserved.

How to reinstall the app
  1. Go to the Shopify App Store and search for Transdirect.
  2. Click Add app — Shopify will detect that the app is already installed and offer to update it.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the reinstallation.
