Accessing settings

Open your Shopify admin, navigate to Apps → Transdirect, and click Settings to access the configuration options described below.

Show on cart

Control how the Transdirect shipping calculator appears during checkout.

Setting	Description
Title	Customise the title displayed above the shipping options at checkout (e.g. “Shipping options”, “Delivery quotes”).
Default address type	Set the default address type to Business or Residential. This affects pricing, as some couriers charge differently for residential deliveries.

Tip

If most of your customers are consumers rather than businesses, set the default address type to Residential for the most accurate initial quotes.

Default item size

Set fallback dimensions that the app uses when a product does not have custom weight or dimensions configured.

Note

The default item size is a safety net — it ensures quotes can still be generated even when product dimensions are missing. For accurate pricing, always set dimensions on your products directly. See installation — product dimensions.

Warranty

Enable warranty coverage on quotes to protect against loss or damage during transit.

When enabled, a warranty fee is added to each quote. The fee is calculated based on the declared value of the goods and is included in the total price shown to the customer.

Setting	Description
Enable warranty	Toggle warranty on or off for all quotes.
Declared value	The value used to calculate the warranty fee. This can be set to the cart total or a fixed amount.

Tip

Enabling warranty gives your customers peace of mind and protects you against claims for lost or damaged goods. The cost is typically a small percentage of the declared value.

Module display mode

Choose how shipping quotes are presented to your customers at checkout.

Full calculator

Displays a complete shipping calculator where the customer can see all available courier options with prices and transit times. Customers can compare and select their preferred option.

Best for stores where customers value choice and transparency in shipping options.

Simplified

Shows a streamlined view with fewer details. Courier options are presented in a compact list without the full calculator interface.

Best for stores that want a cleaner checkout experience with less visual complexity.

No display

Hides the shipping calculator from the customer. Quotes are still calculated behind the scenes and applied to the order, but the customer does not see the individual courier options.

Best for stores that want to present shipping as a single flat rate or absorb shipping costs.

Quote display

Control which quotes are shown to the customer from the available courier results.

Option	Description
All	Show all available courier quotes. Customers see every option and can compare prices and transit times.
Cheapest	Show only the cheapest available quote. Simplifies the checkout by presenting a single shipping option.
Cheapest and fastest	Show two options — the cheapest and the fastest. Gives customers a choice between saving money and faster delivery.

Tip

The Cheapest and fastest option is a good balance for most stores. It gives customers a meaningful choice without overwhelming them with too many options.

Tailgate

Configure automatic tailgate (tail lift) service for heavy items.

When an item in the cart exceeds 25kg, it must be loaded and unloaded with a forklift or a tailgate-equipped vehicle. If the pickup or delivery address does not have forklift access, a tailgate service is required.

Setting	Description
Enable tailgate	Automatically add tailgate service to quotes when any item exceeds 25kg.
Tailgate pickup	Request tailgate at the pickup address.
Tailgate delivery	Request tailgate at the delivery address.

Caution

If tailgate is not enabled and a customer orders an item over 25kg to a residential address (which typically lacks forklift access), the courier may be unable to deliver. This can result in additional fees or failed deliveries.

Note

Tailgate surcharges are included in the quote price when enabled, so the customer sees the total cost including tailgate at checkout.
