Configuration

All configuration is managed from your Magento admin panel under System → Configuration → Transdirect Shipping Module.

Warehouse address

Set the pickup location for all shipments from your store.

Setting	Description
Suburb	The suburb your warehouse or dispatch location is in.
Postcode	The postcode for your warehouse suburb.
Address type	Select Commercial or Residential depending on your dispatch location. This affects courier pricing and available services.

Tip

If you dispatch from multiple locations, set this to your primary warehouse. You can override the sender address on individual bookings in the Transdirect members area.

Default item size

Set fallback dimensions and weight for products that don’t have size information configured in Magento.

Setting	Description
Default weight	Weight in kilograms, used when a product has no weight set.
Default length	Length in centimetres.
Default width	Width in centimetres.
Default height	Height in centimetres.

Note

For the most accurate quotes, configure dimensions and weight on each product in your Magento catalogue rather than relying on defaults.

Data sync setup

When enabled, order information is automatically uploaded to your Transdirect account when a customer completes checkout. This saves you from manually entering booking details — orders appear in your Transdirect members area ready to be quoted and booked.

Quote display

Control how shipping quotes are presented to customers at checkout.

Option	Behaviour
All	Show quotes from all available couriers.
Cheapest	Show only the single cheapest quote.
Cheapest & Fastest	Show the cheapest quote and the fastest quote (two options).

General surcharge

Apply a blanket surcharge to all courier quotes displayed at checkout.

Setting	Description
Type	Choose Fixed ($) or Percentage (%).
Amount	The surcharge value. Use a negative number to reduce quotes (e.g. -5 to discount by $5 or 5%).

Tip

A negative surcharge is useful if you want to subsidise shipping costs for your customers.

Fixed price on error

If the Transdirect quoting engine is temporarily unavailable, you can display a fixed shipping fee instead of an error message. This prevents customers from abandoning checkout due to a missing shipping quote.

Set a dollar amount to use as the fallback shipping price, or leave blank to show the default error message.

Insurance surcharge

Enable this option to automatically insure the full value of each shipment. The insurance cost is added to the shipping quote displayed at checkout.

How insurance is calculated

Insurance is calculated on the total declared value of the goods in the order. The cost is added on top of the courier’s shipping quote and displayed as part of the total shipping price at checkout.

Disabling couriers

By default, all available couriers are enabled. To disable a specific courier, find it in the courier list and set it to No. Disabled couriers will not appear in checkout quotes.

Rename and group couriers

Customise how courier names appear to your customers at checkout.

Rename couriers

Replace the default courier name with a friendly name of your choice. For example, rename a courier to “Express Shipping” or “Economy Delivery” so customers see service descriptions rather than courier company names.

Group couriers by service type

Give multiple couriers the same label based on service type (e.g. “Standard”, “Express”) to present them consistently at checkout.

Sharing a name relabels the services; Transdirect does not merge them into one combined cheapest option — each enabled courier is still quoted as its own rate, so several rates can carry the same label. If you want customers to see a single option, use the Cheapest quote display setting, or disable the services you do not want quoted.

Per-courier surcharge

Apply individual surcharges to specific couriers. This is useful when certain couriers have additional handling requirements or when you want to steer customers toward preferred services.

Setting	Description
Type	Choose Fixed ($) or Percentage (%) per courier.
Amount	The surcharge value for that courier.

Note

The general surcharge and per-courier surcharges do not stack. When the general surcharge is enabled it applies to every quote and per-courier surcharge values are ignored; per-courier surcharges only apply while the general surcharge is switched off. A per-courier fixed price, where set, takes precedence over both.

Order boxing

Advanced: order boxing

Order boxing is an advanced feature that consolidates multiple items in a cart into logical boxes based on their total dimensions and volumetric weight, spread across boxes at the box size you configure. Instead of quoting each item separately, the plugin calculates the most efficient way to pack items together, resulting in more accurate and often cheaper shipping quotes.

For example, with a 20 kg box size:

• 1 item with a total volumetric weight of 60 kg is quoted as 3 × 20 kg boxes.
• 3 items with a total volumetric weight of 20 kg are quoted as 1 × 20 kg box.
• 3 items with a total volumetric weight of 50 kg are quoted as 2 × 20 kg boxes and 1 × 10 kg box.

Enable this feature if your store frequently ships orders with multiple items that can be packed together. If your products are typically shipped individually (e.g. large or fragile items), leave this disabled — do not enable it unless you understand how it changes quoting.
